A saber tooth tiger is a different form of a tiger. It was a tiger before the regular tiger today. It lived in the ice age only in specific places. They were always a orange-yellowish color. It was a fierce animal with huge teeth. It mostly ate humans and wooly mammoths.

In a way, it is. They're both from the cat family, so technically speaking, they are somewhat related.

Additional Information: Additional Information: The Saber-toothed tiger or (Smilodon), is extinct. There were several different species of Saber-toothed Tiger, living at different times in history. Both species scientific classification does have much in common. They are from the class "Mammalia", and the order "Carnivora". Even though the Saber-toothed Tiger is a member of the cat, or the "Felidae" family, just as the Tiger is, it is not considered a close relative of the Tiger. The Saber-toothed Tiger is from the subfamily "Machairodontinae", while the Tiger is from the subfamily "Pantherinae". For more details, please see the sites listed below.

Smilodons or saber-toothed cats lived until 10,000 years ago in North and South America. They are called "saber-toothed" because of its extremely long teeth. We have evidence they existed from tar pits in California. Hundreds of Smilodon were trapped in the tar, possibly as they tried to feed on mammoths already trapped. The Natural History Museum of LA County has many of their complete skeletons. Despite the name "saber-toothed tiger", Smilodonis not closely related to a tiger. The name Smilodon is Greek meaning chisel tooth. The heaviest saber tooth tigers may have reached a weight of up to 880 pounds.

Are saber-toothed tiger related to tigers?

It is very possible sabre tooth tigers actually had teeth. In the movie Ice Age, the sabre tooth tiger had two (or one) long, sharp, front teeth. This can be called a theory. But this is proof that the sabre tooth tiger might've had teeth.
