No, each manufacturer has their own method, use the specs. for a ballpark figure. You can't hear the difference between 100 watts and 120 watts.

What are the typical wattage ratings of soldering irons?

25-30 watts

What would be the maximum rating of the incandescent bulb for a dimmer switch?

Find the wattage rating on the dimmer controller. This is the maximum allowable wattage that the lamp in the fixture should be. Lamp wattage ratings under the rated dimmer wattage is fine but do not install a larger wattage lamp that is over the dimmer control's rating.

What is the maximum current ratings for different electrical equipments?

Current depends on the Wattage and the voltage rating of the device.

What is the wattage of a zero-watt bulb?

Practically its 15 watts. One can see the power ratings on the bulb package also.

What are some things to look out for when shopping for home stereo amplifiers?

When considering the purchase of a home stereo amplifier you would do well to consider the power rating, equalizer controls, and the adjustable filters that vary between amplifiers. You would also be advised to review user ratings.

What is the measurement for bulbs?

Electric lamps have a wattage rating, but also have voltage ratings. Additionally, there are different socket styles for lamps, too.

Why are CFL wattage ratings wrong as the light may be rated for xx watts but when checked with a wattage meter the actual usage is significantly higher?

Usually a CFL has two ratings. The first is wattage and the second is in mA I suspect the wattage is only the wattage of the bulb itself and the second is the actual current draw of both the light bulb and the ballast. They are not compatible. If you figure the mA and multiply times the voltage you will obtain close to the actual wattage of the combination of the bulb and the ballast. I have a 100 watt Feit BPESL25T which indicates it draws 25 Watts when it actually draws 47.5 Watts. Very close to the mA (400 x 120 VAC =48 Watts) indicated on the base. Almost all CFLs I've tested with my very accurate Fluke RMS meter draw twice the wattage they indicate. Not such a good deal.

How many leds and watts to replace a 250 watt metal halide?

It depends. The Wattage ratings do not indicate how bright any type of bulb is, just what its power consumption is. In general LED lamps put out more light for the power used than metal halide bulbs, but there is no standard as to how much more. Most lamps indicate their candlepower or 'candela' ratings on the package, and the vary by type of bulb and manufacturer. The 'candela' is the SI base unit of luminous intensity.

What is rating of a three phase oven?

The ratings of ovens vary. A make and model number might get a specific set of figures. Certainly a call to the manufacturer should allow you to obtain data. Also, ovens are built with a manufacturer's plate that should have some ratings stamped on it.

What happens if you connect impedance speakers which are 40 w RMS and 20 0w MAX to a 30 w impedancece amplifier?

This question is slightly confused in its construction. Impedance and Wattage are references to two separate electronic variable measurements.Impedance is the measurement of a coil's reactive resistance to an AC signal and is defined in henry (symbol H). Impedance can also be referenced in ohms (symbol Ω). Industry standard audio speaker input impedance is typically 4 or 8Ω. Audio amplifiers' outputs are also rated for impedance and usually designed to be mated with industry standard speaker input impedances. You want to try to make sure these two values are the same: 8Ω speaker on an 8Ω amplifier, 4Ω speaker on a 4Ω amplifier, or if they have to be mismatched, an 8Ω speaker on a 4Ω amplifier.Wattage is the measurement of the power rating of some electronic component and is defined in watts (symbol W). A speakers' wattage rating is the amount of power it can accept without being damaged. An audio amplifiers' wattage rating is the amount of power it can produce without being damaged. You want to be sure to have a higher wattage rated speaker connected to a lower wattage rated amplifier. For the usage of 40W speakers connected to a 30W amplifier, neither component will be damaged in this configuration. However, if the ratings were the other way around, 30W speaker on a 40W amp, the speaker could be damaged if the amplifiers' power (volume control) is turned up all the way. At the very least, if a 30W speaker is on a 40W amplifier, you will be able to hear distortion at max volume because the speaker is clipping the tops of the higher amplifier power signal peaks.
