You should try re-installing the software that came with your external hard drive. Or, you can simply turn off your har drive manually after your shut down your Mac. If you are worried that you may cause data damage if you disconnect your external hard drive from your laptop before it stops processing, as long as your MacBook Pro is completely shut down and turned off, no data is transferring between that and your hard drive so it should be safe to manually disconnect it.

Not anymore. The promotional feature where you can "Buy a Mac for college and get a free iPod" is no longer available anymore. Now, there are just special price-cuts and discounts for students for Macs. You can no longer get a free iPod if you buy a Mac.

I'm not sure why it doesn't recognize your guitar. Why don't you try pressing the sync buttons on both the wii remote and the wii (or the control+console for whichever system you have) and it might recognize the guitar again. :)
