J.R.R. Tolkien was a practicing Catholic and would not have been a member of the Freemasons. I have never seen any indications that C.S. Lewis was a Freemason.

There is no evidence to suggest that C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien were Freemasons. Both authors were known for their Christian beliefs and involvement in various Christian organizations.

Can an atheist become a Christian?

Yes, anyone can become a Christian if they accept Jesus Christ into their heart as their Lord and Savior. If the question is asking whether an atheist can turn from atheism and embrace Christianity, the answer is a resounding "Yes!" A classic example of this was CS Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia) who turned from being an avowed atheist into a prolific Christian writer with a profound understanding of theology. CS Lewis was an intellectual giant, and he had many heated debates with his good friend JRR Tolkien (Lord of the Rings),who was a Christian. Finally, Lewis could not dispute the evidence any further, and accepted the truth of Christianity.
