He held up people at gunpoint and stole their belongings. He killed police who attempted to apprehend him. Today he would be thrown into gaol like any frequent armed robber, however Australia is so devoid of historical heroes that history has been twisted to make him into a loveable rogue, who was a lady's man and only stole from rich people who deserved it. He was just misunderstood and picked on. God help us!

Yes, of course. ANY crime is harmful to someone or some thing.
The answer will vary from one country to another. It will also vary from one police authority to another, and over time. Then there is the question of what constitutes violent crimes. Police forces do not all use the same criteria. Further, not all violent crimes are reported. So the best that you can hope for, for a specific area over a specific time period, is a percentage of crimes that are considered violent by the authorities and which are reported for which no arrest is made. There is the further complication that the police may know the guilty party but there is insufficient evidence for any kind of prosecution. So what will the percentage tell you?
Any crime that is perpetrated WITHOUT violence being used. HOWEVER - SOME cirmes (especially some felony offenses) are automatically "Crimes of Violence" because of the fear and danger they place their victims in, whether or not a violent action takes place or not.
