of course there were blacksmiths back then the communities revoled around them because there were the ones who made the horse shoes and horses were the transportation so the community needing blacksmiths

Blacksmiths were used in Medival times. When I think of Medival times, I think of Knights and Battles and Swords. The Blacksmiths made Armour and Swords, and other weapons too. Blacksmiths usually used Iron, as it was probably the only type of metal substance around then, and it was quite easy to shape.

Metal workers were called blacksmiths in the medieval times. They made a lot of swords and daggers, shields, and some other stuff too. I don't think they could've did something for fun then. Blacksmiths needed to get money for their families, money was hard to get in the medieval times unless you are a member of the royal family or a noble. Even if blacksmiths could make something for fun, they would probably make cool tools for themselves or a toy for their children.
