I havent heart the term Bop applied to music for many years, it was mentioned in the song Rocking Robin where it is some form of dance. The pretty little raven at the Birdmen's dance, taught him how to do the Bop and it was grand.. It is obvious from the song , the Bop was a sort of dance. Bop- music not dance, is said to derive from the Spanish- Arriba!- which means imperatively-= UP! and this was shortened to Re-Bop , Hey-Bop and the Re-Bop, and then to Bop. Bop implying impact or boxing punch is something else, for example the banned toy Bop-A-Bear objected to by animal rights groups.
