Well, let's see. The German sent the Jews to camps to exterminate them, to work to death those they did not murder immediately.

The US sent the Japanese to camps to keep them from spying for Japan and from sabotage, and, it was claimed at the time, to protect them from attacks by other outraged Americans. The big difference was that the Americans killed none of their prisoners, had no plans to kill them, and let them go when the war was over.
