Probably somewhat, yes. More time and care was spent building them, and they were built here, in the U.S. with parts also made in the U.S.

Not really. They made a bunch of them but I'd imagine there are a lot fewer due to just the age of the truck. Up until the mid nineties most people that owned trucks used them for work or hauling so they served a much tougher life than trucks today.
