After 1917, the monarchy in Russia was over. Russia was and remains a huge nation. Under the pressure of a huge world war, its easy to blame a monarchy for a nations short falls. Hindsight reveals that the Russian monarchy would have been wise to follow the examples of Great Britain and even France in leaving political and economic power to an elected set of political figures.
