Best Answer

The Teutonic Knights were (as far as knights go) not evil. They were actually the only order of Knights that would spare the lives of captured prisoners. They were actually founded for the same reason as the Knights Hospitaller, to tend the wounded. Just because they are German does not mean they are evil!

Can you please give me some info on Jadwiga versus the Teutonic Knights?

Jadwiga saved Poland and Lithuania by marrying Jagiello, to stop the Teutonic Knights from raiding Poland. The Teutonic Knights were a crusading military order of Germany who were supposed to be Catholic, and were supposed to convert Lithuania, which was the only country left in Europe that was pagan. With Poland and Lithuania united, the two would be stronger, and there would be no excuses for Teutonic Knights to Christianize Lithuania. Jadwiga’s marriage with Jagiello brought Lithuania to Christianity. Jagiello was finally able to defeat the Teutonic Knights years later.
