"Oblivion" means "forgotten" or a place where things have been forgotten. There is a reason why the memory-wiping spell in Harry Potter is "Obliviate". Also compare the word "oblivious" which means "unaware". To blast someone to Oblivion means to destroy them so thoroughly that even all memory of them has been removed. Thus Shakespeare, talking about a very old and senile man: "Last scene of all . . . is second childishness and mere oblivion, sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything."

By extension oblivion means...

death, destruction, the fires of hell, where people are forgotten about (he exploded into oblivion)

Oblivion basicly means "HELL", some examples is in the movie poisedion where the survivours say theve been thrown into oblivion (HELL)
