An example of commensalism in the marine ecosystem is that of the remora and whales. Remora attach themselves to the whales and ride and eat scraps, but the whales neither gain nor are harmed by this relationship.

An common example of commensalism is that of silverfish and army ants. Silverfish live with army ants and eat the scraps of food left over and are also protected by the ants. The army ants gain nothing from this relationship, nor are they harmed.
