Pull back on the wiper arm softly until it is fully extended. There is a small clip that slides back to release the arm. Slide it back and pull the wiper arm off. Be sure to note position of wiper arm so install will be in same position. Install is with arm fully extended,clip slid in, then place back on post. Softly pull back on arm a little then slide out clip push down and release?
To remove a wiper arm on a 1964 Mustang, first, lift the wiper arm away from the windshield to access the base. Look for a small retaining clip or nut at the base of the wiper arm that secures it to the wiper motor spindle; use a socket or wrench to remove it. If there's a clip, gently pry it off, then pull the wiper arm straight off the spindle. Be careful not to bend the arm or damage the glass while doing this.
Remove the knob with a small Allen key. Underneath looks like 2 flat screwdriver slots intersecting, almost like a Phillips head, with the shaft for the knob in the middle. I find it easiest to remove with needlenose pliers. Just unscrew and the switch will come out.

NORMALLY THE WIPER ARM SHOULD POP OFF YOU MAY HAVE SPRAY LUBERCIANT ON THE ARM WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE WIPER MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE DIRT AND GREASE IT ACCUMULATES OVER THE YEARS - Ideally all windshield wipers are removed the same way. Look around for a tutorial video to find the technique and if it works for you, try it on your mustang. -
First, remove the instrument bezel. Then, loosen the little set screw that holds the wiper switch knob on and remove the knob. Then, unscrew the switch bezel. Unplug the wire harness and pull the switch out of the dash. Nothing to it.

Remove the wiper arm from the wiper motor. Remove the wiring harness from the wiper motor. Remove the wiper motor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new wiper motor.
Remove the wiring harness from the wiper motor. Remove the windshield wiper arm from the wiper motor. Remove the wiper motor retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new wiper motor.
Remove the wiper arm from the wiper motor. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the wiper motor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new wiper motor.
