It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is the Mystical Body of Christ, as Our Blessed Lord, Himself said, " "HE WHO HEARS YOU, HEARS ME", Luke 10:16. and in 1 Corinthians (and the book of Acts) we find out that the Church IS Christ's Body. Thus the only goal that the Catholic Church has is to bring Christ to people, and people to Christ. It does this through the Sacraments, through preaching, and through the Kerygma (the proclamation of the the Good News, and Catechesis (the detailed religious instruction which follows).

His main goal is the destruction of the Church and he will not cease from trying until he either succeeds or the end of time arrives. However, Our Lord has clearly stated that "the gates of Hell will not prevail."

This religious conversion was often accompanied by efforts to assimilate the indigenous cultures into the Spanish way of life.
