What happens if you deposit the same check into two banks?

I deposited a check into acorns account on Friday expecting it to be in the account Monday. I contacted support and they said it would be there on or before December 4th. That to me was unacceptable and I really needed the money. So I went to my regular bank and deposited the check. It's expected to hit my account tomorrow. So I contacted support again to cancel the transfer of the check into my account. They apparently wont because the process is underway. So then I asked them to cancel the account all together to avoid having any issues with my other bank and getting my money tomorrow. Then they said they cant cancel the account with pending transfers. What is likely to happen? If my bank does deposit it, when acorns runs it will it just not be deposited(hopefully) or will my bank just flag my account and the money will remain in limbo?

It might take a couple of days, but the error will be eventually caught, and then you'll have to pay back the location that cashed the check for you. Failure to repay the check amount cashed could lead to fees charged by your bank.
