  • Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that causes adverse changes. Pollution occurs when any form of impurity is introduced into a clean source. It is most often used in an environmental concept like air or water pollution. But you will also hear phrases like polluting one's mind, polluting a conversation, etc. There are mainly four types of pollution - air, water, soil and land.
  • Pollution can also be described as water, air or land becoming very dirty. Pollution can come in four different types affecting different types of areas in the world. Air pollution affects the air, water pollution affects the water and marine life, land pollution affects the land destroying life and the environment. There is also noise pollution that can affect our hearing.
  • Pollution is dangerous. It affects everything from land to water, air, noise and more. Harmful substances caused by society is a huge source of pollution. Pollution kills, so reduce it. Linfen, China is the most polluted city in the world.
  • Pollution is the degradation of Earth's land surfaces often caused by human activities and their misuse of land resources. It occurs when waste is not disposed of properly. Health hazard disposal of urban and industrial wastes, exploitation of minerals, and improper use of soil by inadequate agricultural practices are a few factors. Urbanization and industrialization are major causes of land pollution. The Industrial Revolution set a series of events into motion which destroyed natural habitats and polluted the environment, causing diseases in both humans and other species of animals.

Pollution refers to releasing pollutants, or harmful contaminants, into the environment. Pollution can have very detrimental effects on the natural world.

The "progressive" tense of a verb in English uses the present or future of the verb to be with the present participle of the verb in question, so that we could say "is polluting," or "will be polluting." The present participle with the past tenses of to be forms a kind of progressive imperfect: "was polluting, has been polluting, had been polluting."
