I have bulging discs at C5-6 and C6-7. I can feel the problem at C5-6, shoulder pain, heavy arm, neck pain, headaches, pain down my arm to my thumb and first 2 fingers. This is in the spinal fluid. But at C6-C7, the Dr said that It is doing more damage. What kind of damage can be caused from C6-7? What are the symptoms I should be looking for. I am trying to wait a month before having the surgery so I will be out of school. Am I causing more damage by waiting?

Yes this can happen when any nerve is damaged but this is a greater danger if its an actual Spinal Nerve.
Would lead to loss of both sensory & motor function. Ventral ramus is the anterior division of a spinal nerve.
Spinal Accessory Nerve
Olfactory nerve, Optic nerve, Nasal sack, Trigeminal nerve, Gasserian ganglion, Facial nerve, Auditory nerve, Tympanic membrane, Glossopharyngeal nerve, pneumogastric nerve, First spinal nerve, Branchial enlargement, Branchial nerve, Third spinal nerve, fourth spinal nerve, fifth spinal nerve, sixth spinal nerve, seventh spinal nerve, eighth spinal nerve, ninth spinal nerve, tenth spinal nerve, Femoral nerve, Sciatic nerve, Sympathetic nerve trunk, Lumbar enlargement, Sympathetic ganglia, and Filum terminale.
ventral root of a spinal nerve
the spinal nerve sends nerve impulses away from the CNS
The ventral root of a spinal nerve contains efferent motor neurons that carry signals away from the spinal cord to muscles and glands in the body. These motor neurons control voluntary movements and autonomic functions.
The phrenic nerve, which arises from the C3-C5 nerve roots in the cervical spine, innervates the diaphragm muscle and controls its function. Dysfunction of the phrenic nerve can impair breathing and lead to respiratory issues.
Loss of both motor and sensory function
A spinal nerve which carries motor, sensory, and autonomic signals between the spinal cord and the body.
The longitudinal bundles of nerve fibers within the spinal cord that comprise major nerve pathways are called tracts. These tracts are organized based on their function and transmit information to and from different regions of the body to the brain.
