∙ 10y agoIt started in 1934 with the Detroit Lions playing the Chicago Bears. The Lions were 10-1 while Chicago was 11-0. A Tie in that game would make them even and they were matched up again the following week so this was a huge game for them both. The score ended up being in favor of the Bears 19-16 in that holiday struggle and then Chicago prevailed again with a score of 10-7 in their next matchup to clinch the NFL Western Division crown. Thus the tradition of a Thanksgiving football game was born.
