In America Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, spurring the development of all kinds of cloth-making machines and the engines to run them. Henry Ford developed the assembly line.

A lot of people are confused between the French and Industrial Revolutions because (1) they both have the word "revolution" in them, (2) they both take place in Europe, (3) and they both take place at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. However, the French Revolution and Industrial Revolution are fundamentally different affairs.
There are lots of different ways the Industrial Revolution changed our lives now.1: You would not have NEAR as mush stuff as you do now and that includes Internet.2: Transportation and slavery would still be problem most likely.
