they are called trace elements
If you use the food pyramid, then it will tell all that you need, but you don't necessarily have to follow the serving amounts.
Macronutrients are nutrients which we need in larger amounts.
Most foods contain a mix of nutrients, which are classified as either macro-nutrients, or micro-nutrients. The macro-nutrients are carbohydrates (including fiber), fats, protein, and water, which we need in relatively large amounts. Carbohydrates, fats, and protein provide the structural material of cells, as well as energy (calories). Micro-nutrients include vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and phytonutrients, including antioxidants and pigments, which we need in relatively small amounts compared to macro-nutrients.
Hunger is the body's perceptual response to undernourishment (the need for nutrients).
The blood carries nutrients from the small intestine to all over the body. The villi in the small intestine allow nutrients from digested food to pass through the intestinal wall to the blood vessels. Then the blood carries the nutrients away.
In the simplest terms nutrients are the essentials of life, without them we die. In other words nutrients provide us with life itself. That said there are many different specific nutrients, each of which provide us with different types of things that are essential for life. Some are needed in large amounts daily, others we only need small amounts of and can often go for long periods without any of those nutrients.
Macronutrients make up the bulk of what we eat, they are the energy-giving component of what we eat, like the proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Micronutrients are the components of what we eat that are essential to good health. Examples, are vitamins and minerals.
