Why do Pentecostals sprinkle for baptism?

Pentecostals do not sprinkle for baptism. The baptism formula is given in Matthew 28:19 by Jesus to his disciples. Although many take this and repeat it the disciples understood what Jesus' meant and full filled it on the day of Pentecost when Peter said to be baptized in the name of Jesus.(Acts 2:38) Biblical baptism has always been by submersion in the name of Jesus.

In what city did Jesus do his first miracle of turning water to wine?

Who was the first person to be baptized in the Bible?

In the King James versionJohn the Baptist is reported as baptizing people in Matthew 3. They were unnamed. He baptizes Jesus in Matthew 3 : 16, and in Mark 1 : 9, and in Luke 3 : 16, and in John 1 : 34John 3 : 22 mentions that Jesus baptised people - but they are not namedJohn 4 : 2 states that the disciples were NOT baptisedActs 1 : 5 has Jesus telling the discipels that they will be baptized with the Holy GhostThe first baptisms after the death of Jesus are mentioned in Acts 2 : 38 when Peter urged the crowd to be baptized but the verses don't say who did it, ot who the baptized were.Answer:According to Paul... about two million-plus Israelites and who knows how many miscellaneous Gentile escapees exiting Egypt at the first Passover: "... were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea..." (I Cor.10:2).So, if that qualifies as a baptism... perhaps the first person baptized was "NOAH."

What elements of Mark's description of Jesus' baptism does Luke change?

Compared to Mark's Gospel, Chapter 3 contains a more elaborate account of John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus, linked to Luke's genealogy of Jesus. Some scholars believe that Luke's Gospel was originally intended to begin with John the Baptist, as does Mark, and that chapters 1 and 2 were later additions. Luke liked to place his drama in a historical context and was at pains to identify the year of Jesus' baptism, which he did by specifying the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, as well as mentioning Pontius Pilate, Herod Antipas and Philip. In Mark's Gospel, only Jesus saw the dove and heard the voice from heaven. In Luke's Gospel, it seems that everyone present saw the dove and heard the voice from heaven. Both Matthew and Luke are reliant on the Gospel of Mark but, in the story of Jesus' baptism, Luke is closer to the original than is Matthew. For example, Mark 1:4 and Luke 3:3 have John the Baptist preaching baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Matthew at 3:1 was unwilling to have Jesus involving himself in a baptism of "repentance for the remission of sins" and so omits that line.

Who did Jesus Baptized?

A New Testament perspective:The answer to the question is, NO ONE.John 4:2 - (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples),Jesus did not baptize John; He was baptized BY John.Matthew 3:13-16 - Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?" But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him.True, Jesus was without sin; but John's baptism was part of God's plan, and Jesus' earthly mission was to do the will of the Father and thus "fulfill all righteousness."John 6:38 - For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.[Quotes from NKJV]

How is Jesus' baptism and our baptism connected?

The Greek ba′pti·sma refers to the process of immersion, including submersion and emergence; it is derived from the verb ba′pto, meaning "dip." (Joh 13:26) In the Bible, "to baptize" is the same as "to immerse." The baptism of Jesus himself as performed by John must of necessity have had a meaning and purpose quite different from John's baptism, as Jesus "committed no sin, nor was deception found in his mouth." (1Pe 2:22) So he could not submit to an act symbolizing repentance. Undoubtedly it was for this reason that John objected to baptizing Jesus. But Jesus said: "Let it be, this time, for in that way it is suitable for us to carry out all that is righteous."-Mt 3:13-15. Luke states that Jesus was praying at the time of his baptism. (Lu 3:21) Jesus, by reason of this fact, was therefore already in a covenant relationship with Jehovah God when he thus presented himself to John for baptism. Jesus was there doing something more than what was required of him under the Law. He was presenting himself to his Father Jehovah to do his Father's "will" with reference to the offering of his own "prepared" body and with regard to doing away with animal sacrifices that were offered according to the Law. The apostle Paul comments: "By the said 'will' we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time." (Heb 10:10) The Father's will for Jesus also involved activity in connection with the Kingdom, and for this service too Jesus presented himself. (Lu 4:43; 17:20, 21) Jehovah accepted and acknowledged this presentation of his Son, anointing him with holy spirit and saying: "You are my Son, the beloved; I have approved you."-Mr 1:9-11; Lu 3:21-23; Mt 3:13-17.

Why was john surprised when Jesus cam to be baptised?

I would not say that John was surprised that Jesus came to him to be baptised; even though John said to Jesus that he was not worthy to baptise him, (Matthew 3.14); for John told the people he would come. (Luke 3.16)

Why were 7 miracles of Jesus called signs by John?

The 7 miracles of Jesus in the Gospel of John are referred to as signs because they are meant to point beyond themselves to a deeper spiritual truth or reality about Jesus and his identity as the Son of God. Each of these miracles serves as a demonstration of Jesus's divine power and authority, revealing his true nature to those who witness them.

Why did jesus submit to the baptism of john?

To Fulfill All Righteousness Matthew 3:1 Jesus did not try to live outside His calling. He is greater than John. But it was John's role to baptize Him and pave the way, even according to the tradition of the Law. Jesus submitted Himself to this baptism because it was of God, and part of His plan. Even though He is God, He came to earth as a man and followed the will of God the Father to live His calling to be exactly who God called Him to be. Phil 2:5-11 After all, He said John was the Greatest prophet who ever lived (but less then any in the Kingdom of God) Matthew 11:9-11

Have ye received the holy ghost since ye believe?

This is in Acts 19:2, when people were baptized unto John, but John's baptism was no longer the current way; it was superseded by the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
