As far as I know, The Bible does not speak about the livestock present or their reaction to the miracle to the virgin birth. But we know from much research that animals are very sensitive to their environment and even small changes in the energy around them. Common sense tells us there were animals in the vicintiy of the birth. People of Jesus's time depended on their livestock for their very survival, to the extent that their were kept in the ground floor in the home.
It would be speculation to say they understood what was happening, but more likely were aware of the charged atmosphere and in human's body language.
