CD-R - is a CD that you can only write on once if you want to know the name of the re-writable CD, it's a CD-RW

It stands for Compact Disc- Rewritable. An author can write to the same CD-RW multiple times, whereas most CDs come already written and CD-Rs can only be written to once.
CD-rom stands for Compact Disc Read Only Memory. This type of CD is used to store data, and cannot be changed once it has been written to.
That is impossible on a CD-R. Once written to, files on the CD-R cannot be modified. You should be able to modify them on a CD-RW, but this requires support from the operating system for CD-RW drives.

Both are blank storage media for computer or music data. The CD-R is differant from CD-RW's in that data can only be written to and not changed or removed. With CD-RW (ReWrite) you can overwrite sections on the disk to change what was previously burned onto it, once data is written CD-R's it stays there.
CD-R (Compact Disc Recordable) and DVD-R (Digital Versatile Disc Recordable) are types of optical media that can only be written to once. Once data has been burned onto these discs, it cannot be erased or rewritten.
CD+r means write once, read many. This means that you can only write data to the CD once, after that it will be on there forever and you can always get to it.
