Environmental conditions can vary over small distances, creating microclimates.

dark surfaces, such as tarmac absorb the heat from the sun therefore making it hotter. lighter surfaces such as grass, reflect the heat so are generally cooler.

microclimates vary because the seasons alter the humidity and temperature within the air and on the ground particularly those within vegetation ie forrests,orchards where there is more humidity caused by the leaves that create a canopy affect. during the winter however when there are no leaves on most trees the humidity drops and creates a cooler microclimate.

A "micro-climate" is an area, generally a small area, where the terrain modifies the local weather to something different from the surrounding areas. For example, the valley around a stream will be considerably different from the surrounding hillsides.

We typically talk about micro-climates in terms of what plants can be grown there. Some valleys in California are known for producing high quality grape vines, where a nearby valley is not so productive. When wet sea clouds blow from the Pacific Ocean onto the shore, the additional rainfall as the clouds dump their moisture and rise can make all the difference

Building - It provides shelter, warmth and shade.

Aspect - I don't know.

Microclimate means the climate of a small area, they can be large or small we have no controll over microclimates but we influence them .........

eg. we block the sun by buildings
