A political region can be described as an area where a certain type or kind politics or a political tendency that favors a certain type of economic policies. Here are a few examples of this as there are many so-called political regions.* In Europe, many of the strongest economic nations as well as smaller ones formed the European Union. The area of the Southern and some midwestern States form a political region that will normally vote Republican in national elections.* The above political region in the current voting tendencies of States that can be predicted to vote Republican, is vastly different from a previous political region the the United States called the "Solid South". Up until the mid to later years of the 20th century, this political regioncould be counted on for voting Democrat in national elections. This was because of an anti-Republican tradition based on the Northern Republicans having defeated the South in the US Civil War.
