After the arrest, one of the helpers, Miep Gies, found the diary and several papers Anne Frank wrote on all scattered on the floor. She saved them, thinking Anne would come back and when she didn't, she gave them to Otto Frank, her father.
Anne Frank died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March 1945.

Anne Frank hid for 2 years, July 6th, 1942 to August 4th, 1944. 25 months (which is 2 years and 1 month) On August 4, 1944 a German policeman found the annex (which was the secret place that the Jews were hiding in) and arrested the people. They threw Anne's diary on the floor because she always kept it in her fathers briefcase and the German policeman used the brief case for the jewelery. Miep Gies went back later, rescued the diary and gave it to Anne's father after the war. He published the diary. Two years and one month - almost to the day. Anne Frank was in hiding from Monday, July 6th, 1942 until August 4th, 1944. In total, she was in hiding for 2 years and one month.
Mr. Frank is sad about what happened to his family after the Holocaust, and cannot bear to live in Amsterdam, where all his happy memories will come back and keep reminding him of his family.
