I am assuming you havent read the book yet so I wont go into much detail but heres well, a long summery so you get a good idea....

Zoey is in the 'Otherworld' with Heath where the spirits go peacfully before starting their new lives. Zoey has a short week to heal herself and return to her spirit back to her body otherwise her body will die and she will be stuck in the Otherworld. She begins to fall apart peace by peace,meaning she will eventually fade (literally) and she starts losing things like, her bravery, her patience, her ability to be calm, things like that, and Heath is finding it difficult to convince her to return to her body and she is being stubborn.

Stark and the 'Nerd Herd' with Aphrodite have only a week to get Zoey back to her body before she dies completley. Kalona was injured when Zoey blasted him with all her spirit power. It turns out Neferet did want Kalona as her mate, but she also wanted his power and Immortality. By Kalona accepting Neferet she became Immortal with powers of Darkness. She puts a sort of spell on kalona to send him to the other world and not let him return to his body until he kills Zoey in the otherworld, so she cannot return. But Kalona protests because Nyx banned him from the otherworld. But Neferet found a loop hole. Neferet banned Kalona's body from the otherworld, not his spirit. So Neferet forces him to leave until he kills Zoey.

Meanwhile Stark goes through great lengths and lots of pain to make sure Zoey gets back to her body.

And just to finish I know you yourself and plenty of other people are wondering what happens to Zoey and her marks in the end, well I will just tell you she gets her marks and her powers back :) hope this helps :D
