Cotton takes a longer time to dry than nylon due to its water retention capacity. Nylon does not hold water very well and can also have the effect of repelling water.
To really honest with you nylon and a type of cotton are water resistant materials. With nylon water just slips of no problen, that's why they make umbrellas and winter\spring jackets out of them. But that's just water resitant materials.
Gore-Tex is a laminate technology which for the most part is used as a waterproof breathable membrane. Nylon is a durable knit fabric. Usually Gore-Tex is laminated to nylon to produce tough waterproof products. Gore-Tex also allows perspiration through whereas Nylon does not.
Velcro is typically made of nylon or polyester, which are not affected by water. So, if you put Velcro in water, it will remain unchanged and will not be damaged. However, it might take longer to dry, and the hook and loop attachments may not stick as well until fully dried.
caprolactum for nylon 6 and adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine for nylon 6,6
they can be dripped into brackish water tanks
Assuming the rate of dripping is constant, 5 minutes is half of 10 minutes, so only half as much water would have dripped. Half of 6 ounces is 3 ounces.
It may be because they were sleeping under their water container and it dripped on them a lot, or it dripped over where ever they were, but you dont need to worry.
try putting a nylon jumper into water, see if it absorbs water :P ......(yes it does)
Nylon is a synthetic polymer, and has no ability to absorb water - much like plastic.
Nylon is a polymer insoluble in water so it can not change the pH value of water which is 7.
If you burn nylon, it simply turns into a black solid, whose appearance will be like that of carbon
oil is sensitive to water hence, they are showing chemical reaction.
Nylon parts in freezing conditions can possibly seize. Colder temperatures will effect the functionality of nylon and can possibly cause a malfunction.

I believe nylon is not waterproof; however, it might be water resistant. Waterproof is different. Fabric has to be treated to be waterproof, and usually that information will be on the tag when you purschase it.
