I am not a qualified expert on brakes but a brake job of that price seems fair if your brakes are completely shot and are in need of massive repair job.
Depending on the extent of the brake job, the approximate price will range from ~$150 for re-machining/labor for simple disc repair to ~$700 for a full disc and pad replacement. You should check with a reputable auto repair shop for a full estimate.

New rear rotors, skimmed front rotors, all pads...$550. Didn't feel like shopping around and don't necissarily trust Mr. Tire to do the job but thought price was reasonable.
I would say a fair price to pay is at least an hour, That sysyem has four brake lines to it. Its called a "quick take-up" master cylindar. I would recommend a thorough brake inspection before beginning the job though, inspect ALL brake lines, fittings, bleeder screws, flex hoses, linings, so you know what you are in for. Rear brake adjustment, and bleeding the entire system are crucial for a good brake job along with anything else. I would go with a new one, not a rebuilt, and price out wheel cylindars too, the bleeder screws could be seized. Expect to pay a "little " more for a brand new master but remember how many times you are going to hit that pedal. Also a new one will give you a better feel, and confidence on the road. .
The brake rotors are warped are out of round. Need to do a brake job and have the rotors turned are replaced. Be sure to install new pads and shoes.
Expect to pay about $275/300 per axle for quality brake pads and new rotors.
A job like that shouldn't cost more than $150 or so including parts and labor.
