Canines have fur as an evolved means of self defense, and protection from the elements. Fur not only makes it harder to injure the dog, but also protects it, depending on the type of dog, from cold, rain, sleet, etc.
Canines have fur because they need it to protect it.Like for sunburn it blocks it off with its fur.It is like a sheild. It also protects rain, small pebbles, dirt, snow, and etc. Also when it is cold it keeps it warm.
To provide warmth and contain body heat
Hair keeps mammals warm. Reptilian scales curled up and became mammalian hair. Hair is one of the defining features of a mammal. If it doesn't have hair it isn't a mammal. Even whales and dolphins have little hairs.
Yes, in most cases hair on animals especially mammals is for insulation. Humans have lost the thick hair that most mammals have. Humans have tiny light hair follicles over most of the body. The only place that you don't find here in humans are the lips, the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands. For some reason we have lost that gene that produces the heavier hair found in most mammals.
To keep them from getting chilly and sun burned.

They have fur. Like most dogs who shed their fur terriers don't. When they lose their hair it has to be pulled off like our hair. They are dogs that people get if they are allergic to dogs.
there is really no difference.....most people say dog hair is what it is called when it falls off the dog and fur when it is on the dog...dogs with short fur/hair get less fleas then dogs with long fur/hair.... dogs also with white or light fur get more fleas then dogs with dark or black fur...
Dogs have hair all over. Including their armpits. There is hair in the area that would be an armpit, but dogs do not have arms, so they don't have armpit hair per se.
It depends on what their purpose is. The main reason is their fur keeps them warm.
All dogs have hair of course.
