Michelangelo. Took him 4 years with most of it on his back laying on scaffolding. It is 70 feet from floor to ceiling and he painted it going toward the pulpit. Today when you visit it you enter from a door behind the pulpit, so to see it correctly you have to walk to the other end and walk towards the pulpit. The Vatican has a web site you can go to and take a virtual tour of the Sistine.
