It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. The Catholic Church served to preserve learning throughout the "Dark Ages." It also tended to provide some cohesion to the disparate European states as well as an important arbiter of political disagreements.
It is the holy week.Roman Catholic AnswerThe final week of Lent is actually only half a week starting on Passion Sunday and running the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday morning. Lent ends before the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday, that Mass begins the shortest liturgical season of the year, know as the Triduum. It is Holy Thursday evening, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday up until full dark when the Easter Vigil begins the Easter Season.

Roman Catholic Answer: The Easter Vigil is as close as we can get to the Mass of the first couple centuries, it begins in the evening, after dark, on Saturday night before Easter and has up to nine or ten readings from the Bible. It usually runs between two and three hours, and is very beautiful. During the Vigil, adults who are coming into the church are baptised if they have not been baptised before, all baptised converts and people returning to the church are confirmed, if they have not been so before. They then go on to make their first Holy Communion.
