XXXIX

X = 10

So X X X means 10 + 10 + 10 = 30

I = 1

X = 10

NB When the smaller value (I)is to the left of of the larger value(X), then it means reduce the larger value. So 'IX means 10 - 1 = 9'.

So overall XXXIX = 30 + 9 = 39

Actually, a roman numeral does not have 1, but it has I in it.

If we put I instead of 1, then it will be XXXIX which will be 39 in the Arabic numerals

In roman numerals, there are no numbers( such as 1,2,3,4 or even 5) but if you counted it as I then it is counted as 39.
