Crabs, or public lice, is an infestation of crab-like parasites that attach themselves to public hair & other course hair on the body. While the scientific name for the parasite is Pthirus pubis & the scientific name for the conditions is Pediculus Pubis, both are referred to as crabs. Although crabs come from the same family of parasites as head & body lice, they are not the same thing. While crabs need blood to survive, they can live up to 24 hours off a human body. Crabs have 3 very distinct phases.:
