There was a TV movie called "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble", which premiered in 1976. It was a medical drama starring John Travolta as an immunity-deficient lad who lived in an artificial habitat that was a sort of like a glass sphere. This was one of Travolta's first acting jobs. He was one of the few actors of the era who started out on television (on "Welcome Back, Kotter", as Vinnie Barbarino, the leader of a youth gang called the Sweat Hogs) then made the jump to movies. Usually, it is the other way around - for example, Lucille Ball was in movies before she checked in (and for a lengthy career) to television.
