The explorer credited with mapping the Texas coast is Alonso Álvarez de Pineda. In 1519, he conducted one of the first comprehensive explorations of the Gulf Coast of North America, including present-day Texas. His maps provided valuable information for future explorers and settlers in the region. Pineda's work marked a significant contribution to the early understanding of the Texas coastline.
