Plessy v. Ferguson
The Supreme Court decision that allowed states to segregate people of different races was Plessy v. Ferguson (1896). In this ruling, the Court upheld the constitutionality of "separate but equal" facilities, giving legal sanction to racial segregation for the next several decades. This decision was eventually overturned by Brown v. Board of Education in 1954.
Neighborhoods in the U.S. today have people from different ethnic backgrounds living side by side. This was not true in the 1950's and 1960's when many areas, especially in the south, where segregation was common. There was a form of segregation between the whites and blacks. Segregation was strong during the times of slavery and even after.

self-determination
The majority of the Supreme Court justices supported the Plessy v Ferguson decision in 1896. They believed in the principle of "separate but equal" and argued that racial segregation was constitutional as long as facilities for different races were deemed to be equal in quality.
Public Opinion is a huge one. Since the eye of the people is so close on the Supreme Court given the consequences of its decisions, there is evidence that the Supreme Court is affected by the will of the people. Also, amicus briefs can influence Supreme Court votes.
Higher level...the supreme court judges are "justices" other judges are just "judges"
"Is" is a verb in the given sentence, as it is the action word expressing a state of being or existence. The other words mentioned — aggregate, congregate, segregate — are also verbs that indicate different actions or processes. Nouns are words that represent people, places, things, or ideas, and in this context, "is" is being used as a verb.
Jackson ignored Worcester v. Georgia. This was significant because Andrew Jackson ignored the Supreme Court's decision which said that Georgia couldn't make laws that broke the terms on the authority of which the Cherokee's have the right to govern themselves on. Many people ask can he ignore the Supreme Court? Or, Why didn't the Supreme Court do anything about it? And do you know what I would say. idk. :)
The Supreme Court determines what contradicts the Constitution. So it supposedly isn't possible for them to rule against it. If people don't like the decision of the Supreme Court, they can pass laws and/or amend the Constitution to change it. Congress would be who would overrule it, particularly members who were there when they passed whatever law. The Court is not allowed to put words in the mouth of Congress.
