I work for AT&T, and I can honestly tell you that AT&T will still continue to have the iPhone even when Verizon gets the iPhone. When Verizon gets the iphone:There are no differences between the phones except that Verizon's iPhone (on a CDMA network) doesn't support simultaneous voice and data as with the GSM version. So you can't surf the web while talking on the phone as you can on the AT&T network (There is no difference except Old Pacbell territories vs Old GTE territories for coverage. Verizon still uses old CDMA technology which only works in North America. AT&T's GSM works world wide) Verizon does have some GSM towers for the BlackBerry devices that run on that network and can be used as world phones but they are very limited tower amounts so the coverage for GSM service is very limited as well (this has been reported by many Verizon customers who use these BB devices-so the iPhone may have the same issue) There is no word on what data plans will be available or be required when Verizon gets the iPhone. Due to Verizon using the old CDMA network instead of GSM, world travel with iPhone may not be able to be used, but word on the will come later. As well no official word is out yet, but when Verizon gets the iPhone, Apple may still choose to limit the amount of free and .99 apps that they will provide to Verizon iPhone users. If this stands true, then you will be able to get more free and .99 apps with the iphone with AT&T than you would with Verizon. Granted no service provider is 100% perfect with there service.
