What does a Defrost Klixon look like and where is it?
This is located on the outdoor coil. It is usually toward the bottom of the condenser coil and will have 2 wires attached to it. These wires come from the sensor and go into the defrost control board. It is a disc and is easily removed from the coil.

You replace the sump pump, float switch, and check valve all at once to ensure that your basement stays dry... This is not something to be cheap on!
What would cause the outside part of your air conditioner to frost over?
Because of high humidity in the air, the evaporator gets cold enough to cause the extra moisture to freeze. This could happen if you are low on refrigerant or if your coils or filters are dirty. If you are low on freon, you most likely have a leak and should hire a professional to fix this. A temporary fix is simply to turn off the unit until it warms up/thaws. Then turn it back on. But this is not a permanent solution. Clean any dirty coils or filters and if this doesn't fix the problem, have a professional check for leaks and refrigerant levels. [Part of this info was found at HVAC-Talk] if it is a heatpump you probably have a defrost problem most common problem is a faulty defrost klixon (sensor) i can not think of any reason why a airconditioner only would freeze the outside coil because this is always the high pressure/hot part of the system possible bad defrost board A grossly overcharged cap tube system will start frosting from the compressor backwards along the suction line towards the indoor coil/evaperator.
