The Declaration of Independence's name explains itself. It was a document that declared the 13 colonies independent from England's rule. The idea that 13 unorganized colonies could overpower an ancient monarchy seemed impossible, but it was done. The African-American slaves felt the same way. What do tribal, unorganized africans have to put up in a fight against educated, technologically advanced white men? Well, the fact that the colonies not only delcared but won their independence inspired blacks to fight for their freedom and overcome their owners.
