New York's Harbor
2179
Before the titanic sank she was heading for New York
It set sail on April 10, 1912 from Southhampton, England.
New York City Harbor, New York, US.
Suction from the Titanic broke a smaller steamer- the SS New York, from its mooring. The ship swung towards the Titanic, but a tug stopped it just feet from collision. Almost life foreshadowing, don't you think?
It was destroyed by fire.
She was killed in an accident over Boston Harbor, on 7-02-l2.
I don't know, but my great great grandfather was the captain of the last tug to let it go.
I'm pretty sure you mean the Captain of the ship. The Captain of the RMS Titanic was Edward James Smith. He had planned to retire after Titanic was seen safely across, but he stayed with the ship. As the saying goes, "The Captain goes down with his ship"; E.J. remained on Titanic, like the honorable man he was. He was last seen, according to a variety of accounts, on the bridge, watching the disaster. In my own opinion, I do believe he was blaming himself for the tragedy that had unfolded.
Titanic had two captains. Starting March 25th Capt. Haddock commanded her for about a week. Then she was reassigned to Capt. Edward John Smith. She also had harbor pilots like George Bowyer, who was shuttled in to guide her into Southampton.
