There is a backup switch in the gearbox. When you shift into reverse, the gear box switch contacts the switch and lights the white reverse lights. If you find that the reverse lights don't work it could be that the switch is not being triggered by the mechanism inside the gearbox. This is providing that everything else is working; wiring, bulbs, etc.
Under the brake paddle there is a switch. You pull the switch out and replace it with another one.
In the middle of the light bar across the back. It is a single filament bulb 3156LL.
The fuse for the overdrive trans and backup lamps is a 10 amp fuse located in position number 27. If it is blown you will also have no backup lights.
A 1997 Jeep Wrangler uses green coolant.

The YJ was made 1987 to 1995 and has the square head lights. The TJ was made starting in 1997 (there was no 1996 Wrangler because the 1997 model came out early). The TJs have the round head lights again like the older CJ Jeeps. They were replaced by the now current model that has the round head lights also but has the grill sloped back & the other major redesigns (like the 4 door option).
