Opinions: In my opinion the best Turkish Restaurant is Taci's Beyti located in Brooklyn. In Manhattan they are: Turkish KitchenAli BabaAkdenizI also think Cafe Istanbul in Brooklyn is very good.Dervish Turkish Restaurant: 146 West 47th Street, New York, NY 10036The last time I was in NYC for Christmas me, my boyfriend and kids went to hang out in Manhattan and this was one of the restaurants we passed when returning to our car and I was so impressed with the cleanliness and design of this restaurant and the menu was traditional but still look so good and I definitely want to return here but unfortunately we couldn't do it because our kids were dead tired at that point, it was freezing outside. The price were a little more on the costly if you want to doappetizers, dessert beverages but I would still recommend it.DIVAN TURKISH KITCHENIf you are ever in the Philly metro area you HAVE to try this restaurant out. They are originally from New York and I miss their food so much. My boyfriend used to have a pizza shop about 10 minutes from them and I used to get takeout all the time. Their dolma is so good, the calves liver, all the aubergine salads, etc. I don't want you to think that's the only thing good, I just like getting salads instead of a big entree but I have had their dishes too and was never dissatisfied. Many locals come here and ts a mix of Turkish and American folks. Check them out, you even experience a taste of Turkish culture because the tables are set up in traditional Turkish way, even the bathrooms are uniquefor pictures, menu, prices, etcNote: There was a Turkish restaurant that I went to in WEEHAWKON,the ferry goes right over the river from NYC to Weehawkon, the area is beautiful, the cobblestone romantic but I can not think of the name of the restaurant, its named Mediterranean something but I really enjoyed this place too. I think its very similar to Divan but a much bigger place, even more contemporary and prices very reasonable. I just know its right by the river because that's where we parked but its a long river, weehawkon is not that big as we went in and out of many towns next door so it should be no problem finding as we found it just by driving around after looking for apartments.( HANCI TURKISH CUISINE)there is also a slightly newer place that is just about a month old that you might wish to try. Its called Hanci Turkish Cuisine, its rather a sweet place. Kind of formal enough to have a nice dinner in, but small and warm enough to make you feel at home. Their food is great, they have 3 very very experienced chefs running their kitchen, and from what they have told me, cooking is something they enjoy tremendously. I would recommend almost anything on their menu, but if you wish to get specific, i feel in love with their iskender kebab. Also, they have the best kazandibi I have had in New York. So, i strongly recommend this place. Also on some days they cook something special-something not on the menu. These dishes get very close to real Turkish food- going outside of the traditionally known kebabs and gyros-food that you would find on special occasions in turkey... so if you' ever go there, I would recommend asking if they have anything special that day.... other than that.. yes... it is a place to be watched...
