Joseph Smith Jr.'s grave site is owned by the Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and is located in Nauvoo, Illinois in the Smith Family Cemetery next to the Homestead House. (this is not the original site, however) He is buried with his wife, Emma Hale Smith, and his brother, Hyrum Smith. It is now thought that the body of Hyrum is under Joseph's name and Joseph's body is under Hyrum's name - but that is just speculation.
Hyrum Smith, the elder brother of Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, was reported to be around 6 feet tall. This information is based on historical records and accounts from his contemporaries. While exact measurements may vary slightly, it is generally accepted that Hyrum Smith was a tall man for his time.

Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were murdered while awaiting trail in the jail at Carthage, Illinois. A large, armed anti-Mormon mob stormed the jail, shooting into the upstairs bedroom where a handful of Mormon leaders, including Joseph and Hyrum, were staying. The trial was regarding Joseph (as governor of Nauvoo) ordering an anti-Mormon newspaper to cease publication in order to preserve the public peace.
