The French revoloution did not affect the power of British monarchs, indeed it may haved helped restore some power to them.

The French Revolution (1789-1799) happened because France, had stayed an absolute monarchy with feudal privileges for the aristocracy and Catholic clergy,

However, Britain underwent radical changes to its government along the principles of nationalism, citizenship, and inalienable rights in 1640.

During the The English Civil War (1642-51) ended with the Parliamentary victory at the Battle of Worcester on 3 September 1651.

The Civil War led to the trial and execution of Charles I, the exile of his son, Charles II, and replacement of English monarchy with first, the Commonwealth of England (1649-53), and then with a Protectorate (1653-59), under Oliver Cromwell's personal rule.

In Europe at this time, there was the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) was a religious war principally fought in Germany - between Protestants and Catholics in the Holy Roman Empire - in turn led to further warfare between France and the Habsburg powers.

So at the endo of the thirty Years war, and our civil war - there was a power vacumme in Europe. England who had got bored with the puritans, and so - The English Restoration, or simply The Restoration began in 1660 when the English monarchy, Scottish monarchy and Irish monarchy were restored under Charles II after the Interregnum that followed the English Civil War.

This was the limited monarchies, but they did not like the reduced powers, and so after trying to murder and rebell against James II, on On 30 June 1688, a group of Protestant nobles, later known as the Immortal Seven, invited the Prince of Orange to come to England with an army

Believing that his own army would be adequate, James refused the assistance of Louis XIV, fearing that the English would oppose French intervention. However when William arrived on 5 November 1688, many Protestant officers, including Churchill, defected and joined William, as did James's own daughter, Princess Anne.

James lost his nerve, throwing the Great Seal of the Realm into the River Thames

While the Parliament refused to depose him, they declared that James, having fled to France and dropped the Great Seal into the Thames, had effectively abdicated the throne, and that the throne had thereby become vacant. To fill this vacancy, James's daughter Mary was declared Queen; she was to rule jointly with her husband William, who would be King. The Parliament of Scotland on 11 April 1689, declared him to have forfeited the throne.

The English Parliament passed a Bill of Rights that charged James II with abusing his power; amongst other things. The Bill also stipulated that no Catholic would henceforth be permitted to ascend to the English throne, nor could any English monarch marry a Catholic. 100 years before the French revoloution, we had a reformed monarchy, and thus were the only nation able to fight Napoleon Bonaparts invasion of Europe in the years following the Revoloution.

In France in 1799, The constitutional assembly failed for many reasons: there were too many monarchists to have a republic and too many republicans to have a monarch; too many people opposed the King, which meant that the people who supported the King had their reputation slashed. A contributing factor to the Revolution was the considerable increases in poverty in the preceding years. The decline of France after the Revoloution enabled England to become the Empire it was. The Rise of France can be compared in a military manner to the rise of Nazi's in the bedlam of the peace of Versalles
