What affects populations in nature?

The only thing that will increase the population is reproduction. The main cause of decreases in the population is their natural habitats being destroyed by extreme weather, harmful substances like bleach or people littering in the sea and the deadliest being deforestation. Rainforests like the Amazon contains 50% of the worlds animals, which is about 500,000 species. 100 species die from this each day! This is no wonder as 4-6 billion trees are cut down each year.
