A puppy can be fed wet food at about 4 weeks or until they start teething. DO NOT wait until the pup is 2-6 months old, that is absurd. You shouldn't wait until the pup is 6 weeks old either, it is very hard on mom to nurse that long. Puppies should be going to their new homes between 6 and 8 weeks of age. A puppy can also be fed regular food when they are done or almost done teaving.

AnswerI've fed puppies wet/moist puppy food as early as 4 weeks old when we've had single litters of 8 or more pups and mom wasn't able to keep them all as full as the pups needed to be (we also bottle fed to help). Pups were always very nice and healthy and lived long lives. AnswerAfter 6 weeks the pup is weaned from the mother and you can feed the pup wet/dry food mixed (for puppies only). When I got my dogs as pups I went to vet and got the best (Blue Buffalo, Evo, Wellness, etc.) and didn't rely on store bought brands. They only have small portions 3 times a day. Morning, noon and at dinner. Approximately 20 minutes after they eat you should take them outside so they can go to the bathroom. I had a Cairn that was 20 years old (human years) and also a cat that lived to be 20 as well as a 17 year old poodle cross. Answer">AnswerPuppy food should be fed up to 12-24 months. Dogs stop growing physically at about 10-12 months but they still fill out for another year. I found it worked well to start the transition at about 14 months.A fter the dog food scare( I was always an Iams food fan) I have since switched to BLUE BUFFALO. Even my 11 year old toy poodle with bad teeth and very finickey tastes eats BLUE BUFFALO. My other poodle is on the chunky side and is eating the lite BLUE BUFFALO,and he likes it.My puppies are shipoo's they eat the puppy formula.Eventually I think they will all eat the lite because being heavey for any small dog with short legs is not healthy. The BLUE BUFFALO brand is definitely a choice worth looking into. AnswerIf the food is all natural and formulated for all stages of life, newly-weaned puppies through adults can eat it and it's actually very beneficial for their health and digestion. All life-stages food (made by all natural dog food brands like Natural Balance Ultra) contains balanced nutrition for puppies and adults. This is good for dog owners because they don't have to switch their dogs from one food to another and go through the possibility of the dog having trouble adjusting, digesting, etc. It is based on the fact that in nature, dogs would not have the choice between puppy and adult foods and would all eat the same things, just in different amounts.

You can start weening your puppy at 5-6 weeks, gradually adding very very soft and chewy specially formulated food. By 8 weeks your puppy should be fully weened(this may take longer than 8 weeks old) and eating chewy dog food a couple times a day.

The average puppy will nibble at solid food between the ages of three and five weeks. Some people don't feed their dogs a separate puppy food. If your puppy is still very young, you can put water in dry food to soften it for puppies. It will be easier to eat this way.

Generally, the larger a dog is, the earlier they can be moved from puppy to dog food. Some puppies do well with adult dog food as early as 3-6 mos, while others don't transition well until around 18 months. Basicallly, change your puppy over to adult food slowly and in small amounts; your dog will let you know by either not tolerating it or not eating it if it's not ready to change from puppy to dog food. Also, check the food bag or can for age suggestions. Hope this helps...

Around three to four weeks. There are commercial products available, such as whelping paste or canine replacement milk, that can help your cuties make the transition to nutritious, high-quality puppy kibble.

Should 5 week old puppys eat hard food or soft?

A five week old puupy should not even be eating solid food yet and should not be away from its mother. A puppy should start eating solid foods when it is at least 6 weeks old or older. You should start out with soft food but soon switch to hard food after that because it is better for them.

Can i change your 8 week old puppys food to dry?

It is unclear from this question what the puppy is currently eating. A eight week old puppy should be able to eat dry food. Any change in the diet should be made gradually. If you are changing from a wet food to dry you should mix them or have both available and gradually remove the wet food. If you are weening the puppy from milk you should start with dry food soaked in water or milk and gradually reduce the liquid.
