Any age became nuns. Some children that were left at the nunneries never left and became nuns. Often older women would become nuns because they were sent there by husbands or they were left alone and the nunneries were safe places.

Can a divorced person become a nun?

Answer: Yes, a divorced woman canbecome a nun so long as the followining requirements were met (they are the same for a divorced man who wants to become a monk): (1) An annulment has been granted (2) There are no legal or financial obligations towards the former spouse or children e.g. if there were children who were classified as minors, permission would not be granted to become a nun. If a man had financial obligations towards children, he could not become a monk.

How did the old stone age become the new stone age?

The old stone age became the new stone age by going through the middle stone age. The difference has to do with the way the tools were made. The new stone age began with bifurcated stone arrows and spear points. Bifurcated stone tools could also be adapted for agricultural purposes. Spears could be used as pruning hooks. Swords could be used as plowshares.

Who can be a nun?

Anyone who has discerned their vocation and has been approved by the order can become a nun, though it is not that simple. To become a nun takes many steps. First, one must be a member of a parish, usually a Roman Catholic parish, though there are Anglican orders. Then one must discern their vocation. They will usually go on a retreat and have a spiritual director to guide them. It takes many years to know if one has a vocation to the Religious Life i.e. to be a nun (contemplative)/Religious sister (apostolic). Most orders want you to have some life experience and at least a university education. It depends what type of order you go to, for example, Dominican nuns are quite intellectual, but each order has a centre of their life. It could be Daily Mass or Praying the Rosary daily. if you want more information on this, you can email me on scholar_kg@mymelody.com

How do I become a nun?

If you don't have a particular order already in mind, talk with your pastor at church, or contact the diocesan offices. They will be happy to give you some guidance about how to explore possibilities and how to arrive at a choice. If you do have an order in mind, you could contact a community in that order and take a lead from them.
