It depends. Generally children don't speak until they are older than 1 year old. Some speak around their first birthdays and some even before it. But some children won't talk until they are 2! Still after that some children won't want to talk even if they know how, usually these children won't talk to strangers but generally will speak around the house.

absolutaly NOT! what does any child in the matter understand when you slap or hit them? in my own words and experience I only understood "OUCH"...but did I understand not to do what ever I did not again? no! You need to talk talk and talk to your children! I implicated the talk rule to my children, never did I raise a hand on them and I can honestly say that I am so proud of them and I am also a single mom that raised my children since the age of 2 and 7.
